1st Fire Engine Rally 6th Oct 1990


Ireland's 1 st Fire Engine Rally was held at Lock's Distillery Kilbeggan on 6th Oct. 1990 and their were followed by 2nd and 3 rd rally in 1991 and 1992 The rally organiser of the 3 Fire Engine Rallys was Mullingar's Station Officer Pauric Cullen.

At the time there were very little appliances in private hands and each year the 30 odd entries were from Fire Brigades around the country driven there by Firemen from those brigades..





Paddy and the late John Connolly from Graiguenamanagh ensured that Co. Kilkenny was well represented at Kilbeggan This Landrover S1 is now preserved in Co. Limerick



Irish rail attended with full crew from Dublin to Kilbeggan in uniform and standind on the tail board .. Station Officer Tom Webester from Athlone brought along GMC and Karrier


Kilbeggan's Ford Appliance at the rally and ready to turn out .



Station Officer Anthony Doyle and Martin Lawler from Naas brought along the Unimog






The late Tony Lalor who was Station Officer at Monastervin drove Kildares Reserve appliance to Kilbeggan.












Galway City attended with FIO 123 which was sold by Kildare Fire Brigade to Galway for £3,000 for fire cover on the Arran Islands
